Sri Lanka is a country that truly has it all: vibrant marine life for snorkelling and diving, a rich ancient history, stunning mountains, golden beaches perfect for surfing, and national parks offering incredible safaris.

The country has two official languages: Sinhala and Tamil. Sinhala is predominantly spoken by the Sinhalese majority, while Tamil is common among the Tamil minority in the north and east; English is widely used for communication across the island.

Sri Lankan cuisine is a feast of bold spices and flavours. A few dishes that stood out to me are Kottu (a stir-fried chopped flatbread), and Hoppers (crispy, bowl-shaped pancakes).

I visited Colombo, Trincomalee, Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella, Yala, Hiriketiya, Weligama and Unawatuna.

I’ve tracked my footsteps through Sri Lanka, and now I’m sharing my journey with those ready to take that leap of faith and just go for it:

In this PDF, you’ll find:

  • My favourite local tips: restaurants, food, hostels, viewpoints and activities

  • My favourite spots I’ve discovered along the way

  • Practical advice to make your travels easier and more authentic

The longer I’m there, the more I see. I traveled around Sri Lanka for 3,5 weeks
